Special Investigation Types

Measure

The number of children referred to CFSA due to the child testing positive for drugs at birth. Not all referrals are screened in for a response by the agency.

How This Is Measured

Reports received by CFSA for positive toxicology of infants.

Why This Matters

Per the Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Act, there is a federal mandate to report, track, and appropriately intervene on behalf of children born with a positive toxicology test from all substances, whether legal or illegal. Knowing the types of substances that infants are testing positive for at birth helps the Agency to better understand and forecast resource and service needs.
